First Batch of Brunei-US English Language Fellows Deployed

As one of many initiatives under the Brunei-US English Language Enrichment Project for ASEAN, the English Language Fellows (ELFs) Exchange Programme deploys English Language ‘Fellows’ from Brunei and the US to one of six ASEAN countries on a 10-month placement.

The first batch of five ELFs was deployed to their respective countries of assignment in January earlier this year. From the second year onwards, Myanmar will be included as a sixth country of assignment.

While the first batch of ELFs is due to complete their assignments this month, four of the six ELFs from the second batch of the programme were deployed earlier this month to begin their placement. They are Suria Majidah Hj Mohamad (assigned to Vietnam’s Thai Nguyen University), Alinah Abd Aziz (Prateepsasana Islamic School in southern Thailand), Lily Herni Hj Moksin (Yangon Institute of Education in Myanmar), and Hanita Hj Tamin (National Institute of Education in Cambodia).

The remaining two ELFs are Nurhanisah Muhammad Hanafi, who will be going to Universitas Muhammadiyah in Medan, Indonesia, in mid-October, and Wong Yean @ Pong Chea Yean, who will leave for Laos’ Institute of Foreign Affairs in January 2015.
